A patio that slopes toward the house is more than just an eyesore. Water pooling against your foundation is one of the fastest ways to invite moisture problems, and a door step that's out of level is a trip hazard every single time someone walks in or out. That's exactly what this Farmington homeowner was dealing with.

Here's what we were working with - a two-level back patio that had settled badly over time. The concrete had shifted toward the house instead of away from it, which meant every rain event was pushing water right up against the foundation. The entry step at the door had dropped enough to create an uneven, unsafe landing.

We lifted the lower patio section up 3.5 inches and the upper section a full 5 inches. That's not a small correction. Getting concrete back to proper grade at that scale takes precision - you have to bring it up evenly so you don't create new problem spots in the process. The goal was simple: restore positive drainage away from the home and get that door step sitting flat and safe again.

What you end up with is concrete that actually does its job. Water runs away from the house the way it's supposed to, and the entry feels solid underfoot again. No jackhammers, no full slab replacement - just the concrete that was already there, put back where it belongs.

Settling concrete is one of those things that gets worse the longer you wait. If your patio, sidewalk, or steps are starting to shift, it's worth getting eyes on it sooner rather than later.
