Settled sidewalk slabs are easy to ignore in the fall. But once snow hits and you're out there with a shovel or snowblower, those uneven edges become a whole different problem - and a real safety hazard.

Here's what we were working with: a sidewalk with slabs that had sunk and shifted over time, leaving raised edges that catch your foot if you're not paying attention. We drill small holes through the settled concrete and pump a slurry mix underneath. That material fills the voids, compacts the soil below, and lifts the slab back up to where it belongs.

The process is cleaner and faster than people expect. No jackhammering out old concrete, no waiting weeks for a replacement pour to cure. The holes we drill are small, and once the job is done, they're patched up and barely noticeable. You're walking on it the same day.

This kind of work matters most before winter. Ice and snow cover up uneven slabs and make a tripping hazard nearly invisible. Getting it handled now means your walkways are safer and a lot easier to clear all season long.

If you've got slabs that have sunk or shifted, concrete lifting is almost always the most cost-effective fix. It saves the concrete you already have and solves the actual problem - which is the soil underneath giving way over time.
