






Water pooling next to a foundation is one of those problems that looks minor but isn't. When a patio slab settles and tilts toward the house, every rain event pushes water right where you don't want it - against the foundation wall. Over time, that leads to moisture intrusion, erosion under the slab, and potentially much bigger repair bills.
Here's what we were working with on this job in Elko New Market. The back patio had settled and lost its proper slope. Instead of shedding water away from the home, runoff was sitting right at the foundation. You could see the evidence of that moisture along the bottom of the foundation - exactly the kind of thing that gets worse if you ignore it.
The fix was mudjacking - also called concrete raising. We drill small holes through the slab, pump a grout mixture underneath, and lift the concrete back to the correct grade. It's precise work. You have to hit the right slope so water moves away from the structure, not just level things out for looks. Once the slab was re-leveled and the grout cured, the patio drains the way it should. No ripping out and replacing the concrete. No major disruption. Just a properly pitched slab that protects the home the way it was originally designed to.
